I am a week behind the time with this news but I just noticed that Lotro is now available on the Steam platform. I spend more time in Lotro than any other mmorpg so I have a special love for the game even though I am not playing it at the moment. Checking the Steam forums indicates that a number of new players have been tempted to try it since its Steam release. Good news all round I think.

I'm curious how this works. Is Steam like Battlenet now? Do you need to be logged into your Steam account in order to play LOTRO?
I don't know Capn John but it is probably like Steam do with Eve. You can buy Eve through Steam but you still create a ccp account for the game. You can download the client via Steam and play within Steam or you can download the client directly from ccp and play without Steam.
I'm a long time player of LoTRO but all the same felt I had to download the files so I could play it on Steam. And I know others who did the same. Gabe has brainwashed us well.
Hi Berath I wonder if the client will update from Steam servers rather than Turbine's. That could be an advantage. Steams update service is very painless but Turbine's can be a bit slow if I recall.
