I guess my five minute play through wasn't long enough to do more than scratch the surface. I can definitely understand the lure of spreadsheet games but the hamster wheel effect is a real turn off. No more than can be said for any mmo I guess.mbphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09037758442729422620noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36733892.post-84654567817008282152010-03-07T15:31:43.631+00:002010-03-07T15:31:43.631+00:00Mafia Wars is.. interesting... A friend asked me ...Mafia Wars is.. interesting... A friend asked me to join her mafia even if I did no thing else, so I agreed. At the time I was under the impression that my stats mattered to my usefulness in her mafia somehow (turns out all that matters is the # of mafia you have) so every now and then I would log in and click some buttons.

At first, that was it. About 2 minutes of button clicking with no idea what I was doing. But - I like Civ, and Civ type games, and part of what I enjoy, oddly, is the spreadsheet aspect. Slowly, over some weeks, I found myself spending more time in Mafia Wars as I figured out where to spend my points.

Turns out I like doing jobs and buying/upgrading properties (very satisfying to see them all purchased) and I even learned to enjoy the fighting. It is an insidious game, and surprisingly addictive, but only if you give more than 5 minutes on one day (there is an achievement for doing at least one job every day for a week. I'm just saying ;)Loredenahttp://gnomedepot.netnoreply@blogger.com
